Correct a typo, refresh an outdated sentence, or add a relevant internal link while viewing your content.

Click Edit page, select an outlined text region, and make your changes. Use Save changes, or enable autosave. Frontpen supports paragraphs, headings and list items in the block editor, plus supported classic HTML content.

New: edit links and find internal pages

Select words and click Insert/edit link, or use Ctrl/Cmd+K. Paste a URL or search your site's published posts and pages. Click an existing link in edit mode to change its destination or remove the link while keeping its text.

Search published posts and pages without switching to another tab.

Add internal links using normal HTML anchors with href attributes.

Update old destinations, email links, phone links and section anchors.

Choose whether a link opens in a new tab.

Mark paid links as sponsored, or use nofollow when appropriate.

Keep the existing inline formatting when inserting or removing a link.

Link search uses your own WordPress REST API. No external search service, account or API key is needed.

Everyday ways to use Frontpen

Refresh older articles: update dates, wording and links to newer resources.

Maintain service pages: correct contact details or point readers to a related service.

Add internal links: select descriptive words and find a relevant post or page.

Fix an outdated link: change the URL directly in the text where readers see it.

Review copy with a client: make small wording changes while viewing the page layout.

Editing controls that keep you informed

A visible Save changes button, autosave, and Ctrl/Cmd+S.

Done waits for successful saves before leaving edit mode.

Failed saves stay visible and keep your unsaved text available.

A navigation warning when changes have not been saved.

Undo last save, using WordPress revisions when available.

Source checks that detect changes to text, formatting and link URLs in current editor sessions.

Keyboard-accessible link controls and larger touch targets.

Content and access controls

Frontpen updates supported text content while preserving its surrounding block markup and layout attributes. It can edit text nested inside Groups and Columns when the text block itself is supported.

Classic HTML support includes paragraphs, headings, list items, table cells, captions and definition lists when the rendered element can be matched to stored content.

Only logged-in users who already have permission to edit a post can use Frontpen. Settings let administrators choose allowed roles, allow individual users, or block individual users. Per-user rules never grant WordPress editing capabilities the user does not already have.

Lock a whole post from the edit screen, or add the CSS class frontpen-no-edit to an individual block. The server checks permissions, locks and allowed content before saving.

What Frontpen does not edit

Frontpen is for supported post content. It does not edit theme templates, menus, custom fields, page-builder widgets, WooCommerce prices, or product metadata. Unsupported posts and pages offer a link to the standard WordPress editor. It does not replace an SEO metadata plugin or promise higher rankings.

Install and activate Frontpen from Plugins → Add New, or upload the plugin ZIP.

Visit Settings → Front-End Editor to choose roles, editable blocks and autosave behavior.

While logged in, open a post or page you can edit and click Edit page.

Edit text, or select words and click Insert/edit link.

Click Save changes or Done, and wait for confirmation.

Changes to published posts and pages go live when saved.

Can I edit WordPress text without opening the block editor?

Yes. It saves standard HTML links and offers sponsored and nofollow controls. Choose relevant destinations and descriptive link text. Frontpen does not generate SEO titles, meta descriptions, sitemaps or automated link suggestions, and does not guarantee rankings.

What can link search find?

Published posts and pages exposed through the site's WordPress REST API. Retry a connection failure with Save changes. When Frontpen reports a conflict, copy your unsaved text before reloading. Conflict checks reduce accidental overwrites but are not a shared real-time editor or an exclusive post lock.

Can I undo an edit?

After a successful save in the current page session, Undo last save restores the previous differing WordPress revision and reloads the page.
